NORFOLK - Anna Hudson Milteer, 104, completed her earthly life on Thursday, March 15, 2007 with her family by her side. She was a retired school teacher having first taught at Maury High School, and later at Granby High School. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Hester Virginia Long Hudson and Capt. Asher Jehu Hudson, and was the widow of Charles Everett Milteer, Sr. Mrs. Milteer was a graduate of Maury High School and the College of William and Mary, Class of 1925, and while at the college was active in the Bruton Parrish Church Choir. She also was an active member of the Christian Temple, United Church of Christ in Norfolk. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dorothy Milteer Danegger and her husband, Alfred of Lewes, DE.; a son, C. Everett Milteer, Jr. and his wife, Lynda of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Charles "Chuck" Milteer III and his wife, Deborah, Grace Milteer Schaefermeier and her husband, Martin, Asher Milteer Avery and her husband, John, Robert Emil Danegger and his wife, Deborah, and Anna Elizabeth Danegger and her husband, David Jarrell; two step grandchildren, Scott Rizer and his wife, Lea and Courtney Rizer Snyder and her husband, Kenneth; seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth Anna Schaefermeier, Willliam Anton Schaefermeier, Margaret Hudson Milteer, Rachael Elizabeth Danegger, Jacob Emil Danegger, Patrick Hudson Avery, and Kinsley Chesson Avery; two step-great grandchildren, Casey and Nicole Rizer; a niece, Anna Rickertts Wetherill; a nephew, Joseph A. Wright; and a devoted friend, Jane Gresham. The family would like to thank the staff at The Ballentine for their 17 years of loving care of Mrs. Milteer. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2007 in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home by Rev. Dr. Richard Prince. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Granby High School Scholarship Foundation, c/o Granby High School, 7101 Granby St., Norfolk, VA 23505 or to your favorite charity.
