William "Bill" Blackwell of Cambria CA passed away suddenly Tuesday evening August 5, 2014 Bill was born in Indianapolis Indiana October 14, 1944 to Millard and Rhoda Blackwell. Bill lived in Hanford most of his life and Graduated from Hanford High School in 1964. After High School he became a Firefighter at the City of Hanford August 26, 1965 and promoted to Engineer May 4, 1987. On Oct. 14, 1989 after 23 years of service he left the Hanford Fire Department to go to work for the State of California Corcoran State Prison as a Fire Captain and then retiring after 37 years of service in 2002. He and his wife Billie then moved to Cambria and built their dream home to enjoy the cool weather and beautiful ocean views.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Millard Blackwell, mother Rhoda Blackwell and only sibling Wayne Blackwell.

Bill is survived by his wife Billie Bishop Blackwell of 38 years. His daughter Rhoda Kyle her husband Matthew and grandchildren Lauren and Alex, of Thornton CO. His son Gene Blackwell and his wife Cynthia and grandchildren Ellen and Leyton of Orcutt CA. Sister-in-law Diane Ford-Donohue and husband Timothy. Bill will be missed for his special relationship with his Nieces and Nephews.

Bill was an avid hunter, fisher man and golfer getting his first hole in one May 2, 2014.

A celebration of Bill's life will be at the City of Hanford Fire Department located at 350 W. Grangeville Blvd. Hanford, CA Tuesday August 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's name to Community Medical Foundation, Leon S. Peters Burn Center P.O. Box 1232 Fresno, CA 93715
