She was born in Hillsboro, Texas on January 23rd, 1924, to Douglas L. Laxson and Emma Chastain Laxson. She was a graduate of West High School, West, Texas in 1942, where she
met and married George R. Willis in November 1946. Upon her husband's graduation from Texas A&M in 1949, they made their home in Houston, Texas. Christene is a member of the church of Christ and worshipped with the Cy-Fair congregation in northwest Houston. She is survived by her three sons; Kyle and wife Cynthia, Byron and wife Annette, and Rody and wife Melanie, all of Houston, Texas and one nephew, David Laxson, of Waco, Texas. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband (1987), and by her parents and two brothers-Joe Ed and Herschel Laxson, and three sisters Lovita Morton Adams, Mildred Laxson and Flogene Laxson and one daughter-in-law, Linda K. Ling Willis.
To know Christene Willis is to know her love for the Lord, and her husband and family. She touched all in a wonderful way, not only the lives of her family, but also many friends, especially the saints
with whom she worshipped in Houston and San Antonio, Texas, and Oklahoma City. She will be remembered for her Godly life, genuine kindness and pleasant demeanor.
