William “Bill” Ahrens was born on 20 August 1882, in Beaver Falls, Renville County, Minnesota, to Frederich “Fred” and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Bratsch Ahrens.

On 27 June 1912, Bill married Lena Marie Schmidt in Beaver Falls and in 1919, they moved from Beaver Falls to Redwood Falls. Mr. Ahrens was a farmer for 15 years and a teamster for 20 years.

William “Bill” Ahrens, Sr., of Redwood Falls, died at the age of 68, on Saturday morning, 14 October 1950, at Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota. He had been ill for about 10 years prior to his death.

Bill was survived by his wife; eight sons and a daughter: Maynard, William, Jr., Floyd, and Loretta, all of Redwood Falls; Leonard and Willard of Morton; Howard of Vesta; Ernie of Franklin; and Luverne of Minneapolis. Also surviving were his nine grandchildren; three sisters and five brothers: Jennie Storch of Minneapolis; Mrs. R.F. Byram and Henry Ahrens of Redwood Falls; Mrs. Ted DeKoch of Little Chute, Wisconsin; Charles Ahrens of North Redwood; George Ahrens of Slayton; John Ahrens of Chicago; and Fred Ahrens of Morton.

His funeral service was held at the Church of Christ, in Redwood Falls, with Pastor W. Kenneth Arrowood officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Bjerke, Angus Johnson, Arthur Christensen, Oscar Hillger, Waldo Marsh, and Walter Palmer.

William was buried in the Redwood Falls Cemetery, in Redwood County, Minnesota.
