Bonifacio Almanza, Jr., 69, a resident of Davenport, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at his home. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 516 Fillmore Street, Davenport. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown, Davenport, where there will be a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Bonifacio was born May 22, 1948 in Laredo, Texas, a son of Bonifacio and Gregoria (Mata) Almanza. He was united in marriage to Rosa Aguilar in 1974 in Andalusia, IL. She preceded him in death October 7, 2016. He had worked at Sivyer Steel for many years and was self -employed as a mechanic and enjoyed being the neighborhood mechanic.
Memorials may be made to his family.
Survivors include his children; Fernando (Carol) Almanza, Davenport, Roberto (Maria) Almanza, Moline, Veronica Almanza, Rachel Almanza, and Adriana (Valentin) Voorhis, all of Davenport, Blanca Almanza, David (Maria) Pena, all of Laredo, TX, Jose Aguilar, Moline; daughter-in-law, Kristina Almanza, Davenport; 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; his siblings, Gloria (Pablo) Garcia, Hilda (Guillermo) Garcia, Rogelio (Sylvia) Almanza, Sandra (Steven) DePorter, Raul Almanza, and Alicia (Martin) Carmona Garcia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons Alexander, Gabriel, and Shane Miller, a great grandson Isaiah, a great granddaughter Zalaya, a sister Rositta Villarreal, and a brother Ramiro. May they rest in peace.
