EUREKAN KILLED IN FALL FROM CAR

Nels Evenson, aged 72, for many years of this community, was fatally injured Sunday afternoon in the north part of Eureka near his home when he fell from the running board of an automobile. Mr. Evenson stepped on the running board to ride about a block. The door came open and he fell, facturing his skull when his head struck the pavement. He also received a fractured hip. He was taken to Bastham hospital where he died Monday night.
Nelson Gilman Evenson was born in Stoughton, Wisconsin, December 24, 1863.

At the age of two years he camt to Greenwood county with his parents, who settled on a farm twelve miles northwest of Eureka. On May 19, 1888 he was united in marriage to Jane Olson at Eureka. To this union seven children were born; Lewis E., who preceded hin in death May 4, 1941; Ole Gilman, John, Chris, Elwin, of Eureka; Mrs. W.J. Morris of Topeka; Albert L. of Wichita; His wife prededed him in death January 20, 1933.

On August 12, 1935, he was married to Cora M. Buckwith of Eureka who survives him.

Nels as he was always called will be remembered by his many relatives, friends, neighbors as a faithful husband, a loving faather and a good neighbor always ready to help a friend or neighbor in need.

Funerall service was held Wednesday afternoon, June 11, from the Baird Funeral Home in Eureka. Rev. Herman C. Hjortholm of Texhoma, Oklahoma, formerly of Eureka was in charge. Interment was in the Ladd Cemetery
