Johnnie H. Fields, 88, of the 2700 block of Watts Ave., a retired self-employed automobile mechanic, died April 23, 1991, in a nursing home.

Mr. Fields, a native of Norfolk County, was a former coach with the Charles Peete Little League and with the Chuckatuck Trotters, a semi-pro league.

Survivors include his wife, Julia B. Fields of Manassas, Va.; seven daughters, Edith T. Naylor, Elise L. Joyner-Manley, Ruth E. Coleman, all of Portsmouth, Mary L. Naylor of Centreville, Va., Mildred O. Robinson of Culpeper, Va., Joan R. Robinson of Iowa and Sarah D. McQueen of Cuba; nine sons, Roy C. Fields, Theodore H. Fields, Robert H. Fields, Floyd M. Fields, Daniel F. Bullock, Charlie B. Bullock and Thomas L. Bullock, all of Portsmouth, William A. Bullock of Suffolk and Michael L. Bullock of Saudi Arabia; a sister, Elnora Rogers of Portsmouth; two brothers, Robert H. Fields Sr. of Baltimore and Freddie Fields of Portsmouth; 73 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Garden of Prayer Temple by Bishop L.E. Willis. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in Corprew Funeral Home, where friends may visit the family from 7 to 8 p.m. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Friends may join the family at 2702 Watts Ave., 100 Beechdale Road and 1005 Jefferson St., and will assemble at 1005 Jefferston St. for the procession.
