Stanley passed away June 12, 1958. She married Orval Jordan Barnes June 1, 1963 in Layton, Utah. He passed away November 17, 2010 at the age of 88.

Effie spent her early childhood helping with family duties alongside her brothers: Roy (Donna), Dale (LaVon), Vern (Edna), Carl (Joann); and sisters: Doris (William Williams), Norma (Floyd Eddy), Zola (Edward Wayment) and Donna (Marlin Patterson). All have preceded her in death except Donna, Carl and Ed.

She received her education in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School in 1945. At the time of her marriage to Stan, World War II was in full swing. She was such a great support to him at the time of his service to his country. She also supported him in all his endeavors. Five years after Stanley's death, she fell in love with Orval Barnes and added his children to her family: Connie (Ron) Basinger, of Layton, SanDee (Merlin) Bodily, of Meridian, ID, Bruce Barnes, of Layton, Peggy (the late Vern) Child, of Layton, Cindi (Trent) Draper, of Layton, and the late Randy Nielsen. Effie and Orval spent 47 happy years together before his death in 2010.

She was a member of the LDS church where she served for many years in many church callings, Relief Society President, Young Women's President and President in the Primary organization. She loved people and took any opportunity to serve.

Effie loved spending time with her family. She attended many family functions of her 12 children, 58 grandchildren, 185 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was always concerned for their welfare and expressed her love to them by telling them to always be safe.
