He was born Sept. 29, 1938 in Swain County, the son of Larce Lonnie Mashburn and Almer Holden Mashburn. He was employed by the Valspar Corporation, retiring in January 2002 after 44 years of service. He was a member of Samaritan Baptist Church where he served as assistant treasurer, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. On Sept. 16, 1963, he married Ginger Dix Mashburn, of the home, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marcy Mashburn Murray and husband Steve of Apex, and Alison Mashburn Roberts and husband John of Thomasville; three sisters, Clara Hancock and husband Joe and Dellene Evans and husband Gene of Bryson City, and Ella Mae Mashburn of Clayton, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Joshua Murray, Caleb Murray, Makayla Murray, Gabriel Roberts and Logan Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Jenkins, and two grandchildren, Samuel Murray and Nathaniel. Murray.
Funeral services were conducted at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 13 at Sechrest Chapel in High Point. The Rev. Danny Smith officiated. Interment was in Floral Garden Memorial Park. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
