SUICIDE VICTIM BURIED FRIDAY
Virgil Dunn, Spencer Township Youth Shot Away Top of His Head With a Shot Gun

Funeral services for Virgil Dunn, 17, Spencer township youth, was held Friday afternoon from the Walter funeral home in Spencervllle, with burial in the White City cemetery.

The youth was found dead at the home of his father, Archie Dunn on Tuesday afternoon of last week. Coroner B.O. Shook made an investigation of the death and returned a verdict of suicide.

Virgil apparently had been sitting on the edge of a bed cleaning a shotgun prior to the fatal shot. He had remarked to his sister that he was going to shoot a pigeon, and a swab rod lay near his body when it was found. His parents believe the gun was accidentally discharged while he was cleaning it.

A brother, Robert Dunn, discovered the body when he returned from school. Virgil had been dead three hours, the top of his head being shot away by the discharge. The lad had been left alone in the house while his mother, a brother, Harold, and a sister visited Auburn.
