Gayelynn Birch Hunt , 45, passed away October 21st, 2017 at her home in Garfield surrounded by friends and family.

Gaye was born on October 18th, 1972 to Cheri Valene Guymon and Linden Lee Birch in Rigby, Idaho. She was raised in the Rigby area, and enjoyed camping, fishing, raising sheep, and spending time with her family. She graduated from Rigby High School in 1990.

Gaye spent time living and working throughout the Snake River Valley, Soda Springs, and Yellowstone. She shared her family’s love of playing in pool tournaments, and attending car shows and events with the E.I.E.I.O (Eastern Idaho Early Irons Organization) in Jackson, and met many lifelong friends while doing so. Later on, she found a new passion in serving elderly and developmentally disabled adults. Gaye truly loved serving others not only at work, but also her friends and adopted extended family.

Gaye is survived by her children Broty Birch (Kyle Cannon) of Salt Lake City, John Hunt of Idaho Falls, Kaden Hiatt of Idaho Falls, three grandchildren, and the many others who adopted her as their mother and grandmother (Momma G). She is also survived by her extended family: Janiel Shakib of Ogden, Joyce (David) Holbrook of Ogden, Sadie Messick (Larry van der Plas) of Idaho Falls, LaRee (Joel) Billman of Dubois, Bonnie (Vard) Wright of St. Anthony, Jean (Jim) Overholser of Idaho Falls, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patty Lynn McClure, her brother Keith Birch, and four uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25th, at 11:00 am in the Garfield 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 71 North 3700 East, Rigby, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to Eckersell Memorial Chapel or the Gayelynn Hunt Memorial Fund at Mountain America Credit Union to help cover funeral expenses.

The family would like to give their thanks to Sonia Adakai, Nonyarae King, and Tim Hathaway for their devoted companionship and assistance with Mom during her final months with us.
