Bertha Gertrude Watkins was born at Hiawatha, KS, Sept. 14, 1878, and passed away in Sedelia, MO, on February 2, 1938.

She was united in marriage with Ray Orrin Grover at Hamlin, KS on Sept. 2, 1897. To this union were born 11 children: Glenn of Seattle, WA; Wallace of Lawrence, KS; Mrs. Lena Cooksey of Lawrence, KS; Ira of Lawrence; Ralph of Portland, OR; Mrs. Gladys Fenatemaker of Lawrence, KS; Mrs. Myrtle Williams of Kansas City, MO; and Ola of the home.

Of the immediate family preceding her in death have been two children in infancy, and Archie in 193?.

(Rooks County Record, February 10, 1938)

The year of birth in the obituary doesn't match what is on the gravestone. The death certificate lists the year of birth as 1876. Bertha was likely to be sensitive about her age. A somewhat common issue.

Ray & Bertha were living in Lawrence, KS at the time of their deaths.
