Gatewood, Dr., surgeon, was born at Stockport, Ohio, Oct. 11, 1887, son of Wesley Emmet and Annie L. (Pierrot) Gatewood. (He was not given a Christian name and never adopted one). He was graduated at Ohio State University, A.B. in 1907 and A.M. in 1910, and at Rush Medical College, M.D. in 1911. Dr. Gatewood began the practice of his profession in Chicago in 1914 in association with Dr. Arthur Dean Bevan. He is currently an associate surgeon to the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago; attending surgeon to the Highland Park Hospital, and consulting surgeon to the Municipal Contagious Hospital of Chicago. During the World war, he held the rank of lieutenant in the medical reserve corps of the U.S. Army. He was married at San Diego, California, Nov. 27, 1923, to Esther, daughter of Andrew W. Harper, and their children are: Emmett Harper, Esther Helen, and Mary Jean Gatewood.
