Although the plaque on Patrick Garvey's cemetery memorial lists Phoebe Carney Garvey's death date as unknown, the WI Death Index lists a date of 28 Sep 1905, for Mrs Phoebe Garvey in Outagamie County, WI.

There is mention of his death in the Appleton Crescent newspaper. He had loaded a self binder at the C & N railroad station, and headed for home. The wheel hit a rut, and he was thrown, landing on his head and shoulder. He died a few hours later.
