Vadeen Smith Reddin, age 91, died Saturday evening October 14, 2017 at her home in Henderson.

Mrs. Reddin was born and reared in the Montezuma Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Mark and Margie Cupples Smith. She attended Chester County schools. She married Max Reddin in 1943 and they made their home in Henderson. She worked for Salant & Salant for fourteen years and then went to My Lady Beauty School of Cosmetology and earned her beautician license. She operated Vadeen’s Beauty Shop from 1956 until she joined her husband at Reddin Electric Company, a General Electric Appliance Dealer until her retirement in 2002.

She played basketball and softball while in school and she and Max where avid fans and supporters of Chester County sports. She help raise funds to start Chester County Dixie Youth baseball and softball.

She was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Henderson.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Max Reddin, a daughter Shirley Bain and husband Jerry, two granddaughters; Marsha Barclay and husband Michael and Shondra Murley and husband Clay all of Henderson, five great grandchildren; John Ryan Barclay (Brittany), Bradley Barclay, Taylor Barclay, Corey Johnson, and Ella Murley and two great-great grandchildren Luna Lynn Barclay and John Luke Barclay.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; Junior Smith and Kirk Smith and three sisters;
Wilner Mae Young, China Mae Strain, and Lorraine Smith

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at First Baptist Church Henderson with Troy Kilzer, Brad Patterson, and Marcus Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens. Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church beginning at 5:00 PM Monday.
