Betty A. Shade, age 88 of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday October 14, 2017 after a brief stay at the Berkshire Center, Reading. She was born March 25, 1929 in Spring Glen, a daughter of the late James F. and Erma (Weiss) Mace.

Betty retired as a cafeteria manager at Northside Elementary in the Mechanicsburg School District. She was a charter member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Shade; six brothers, Charles, Chester, Allen, Homer, James and Herbert Mace; five sisters, Hannah Wagner, Elsie Straub, Lillian Schwalm, Beatrice Mace and Edith Mace. She is survived by her son, Keith Shade and his wife Kendra (Braucher) of York; daughter Alethea (Shade) Beckley and her husband Scott of Reading with whom she resided for the past three years; three granddaughters, Nicole (Beckley) Brown and her husband Cameron of North East MD, Kristen Beckley and her companion James McMenamin of Turnersville, NJ. and Corinne (Beckley) Bolinder and her husband Fredric Bolinder of Cherry Hill, NJ; five great-grandchildren, Darwin and River Berger of North East, MD and William and Mia Bolinder of Cherry Hill, NJ and Brian Mangano of Turnersville, NJ; sister, Dorothy Neubaum of Millersburg; sister-in-law, Joyce (Schade) Harner and her husband Donald of Camp Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg. Viewing held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will take place at Rolling Green Cemetery.
