Clarence White Atkinson, 95, Salem, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

He was born July 20, 1921 to the late Dock Isaac White Atkinson and Clara Jewell Atkinson.

He was also preceded by his son, Roger D. Atkinson; brother, Taylor Atkinson; and sisters, Bonnie Henson, Merle Bean, and Marion Janney.

He served during WWII in the U.S. Army and was retired from N&W Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Janice Oxley Atkinson; children, Sandra A. (Walt) Anderson and Mark R. (Ponza) Atkinson; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers, Russell, Hampton, and Scott Atkinson.

A funeral service will held at 1:30 pm, Monday, December 26, 2016 in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Pentecost officiating.

Burial will follow at Piedmont Cemetery in Shawsville.
