Aunt Betty (one of Berry's granddaughters) said he was a very tall man, maybe 6'6". She also states that he was not a very pleasant man, pretty grumpy. If you read the obituary of his father, Levi Pennington, grumpiness is totally understandable.
Little Berry married Bertha Steinhour (Steinhauer) on 24 May 1888 at the bride's house in California MO. In book 12, page 76, is another marriage for L.Berry Pennington to Nancy Reed. Berry cared for her during her final years of failing health, then buried her with her 1st husband, and moved to Independence MO to live out his last few years with his daughter Virgie Minnie Pennington Nelson Stinson, who is the only child of Little Berry and Bertha who survived childhood. She cared for Berry until he died.
Would dearly love to have a picture of him as all family pictures, documents and Bibles were destroyed in house fires.
