Sarah is my ggg-grandmother. If you are kin, I would love to hear from you. Deb

In the 1900 census, Sarah Baird Pennington was living with her daughter Sarah D "Satte" Pennington Hume, and the Hume family. Over the years, she and Levi lived apart more than together.

OBITUARY
From the December 20, 1917 California Democrat
Mrs. Sarah J. Pennington died at the home of her son, L. B. Pennington in Fortuna, Mo., December 13, 1917.

She was born in Franklin County, Kentucky, August 10, 1830, being at the time of her death 87 years, 4 months and 3 days old. At the early age of sixteen years, Mrs. Pennington united with the Sulphur Springs Baptist church in Kentucky and remained a faithful Christian until she was called to the Great Beyond. In 1849 she was united in marriage to Levi Pennington, who preceded her to the grave, some seventeen years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Pennington moved to Missouri in 1854. Here they reared a family of eight children, three of whom survive her, namely: L. B. Pennington of Fortuna; Mrs. Chas. McDonald of Barnett, and Mrs. J. R. Hume of near California, with fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. M. R. Woods of near California; Mrs. Nannie Saddler of Independence, and Mrs. Rebecca Dale of Oklahoma, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor, and raised a family that is a credit to any community.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. R. L. Hood at Flag Springs Baptist church, at which cemetery the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband.
