Richard E. Duncan, Sr., age 89 of Elwood and formerly of Rigdon, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following an extended illness. He was born on December 4, 1927 in Rigdon, the son of Leslie C. and Maude (Heater) Duncan. Richard worked in the shipping department of Fisher Body division of General Motors in Marion for 30 years and retired in 1990. Richard married Nedra “Jo” Nash on June 15, 1948, and they shared over 66 years of marriage together until her passing on July 22, 2014. He was formerly a member of Rigdon Lions Club and U.A.W #977. Richard lived all of his life in Rigdon, and worked on area farms beginning at the age of 10. He enjoyed being outdoors raccoon hunting and mushroom hunting. Richard was very proud of building his own home, where he lived for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed training his dog “Tag” to do numerous tricks, woodcarving, and playing euchre. Richard never met a stranger, and was known helping anybody he could. More than anything, he was devoted to his family, and especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren.
