Mary Avon Motlow Boyd, 105, of Boca Raton, FL and Lexington, KY, widow of James C. Boyd, died at her residence Wednesday, August 23.
A native of Lynchburg, TN, she was born May 10, 1912, daughter of the late Lem and Ophelia Evans Motlow. She was a graduate of Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN and Duke University. She was a member of Christ Church Cathedral, Royal Palm Yacht Club and Country Club in Boca Raton, FL and Idle Hour Country Club.
She is survived by her son, James Robert (Elise) Boyd, Lexington; her daughter, Judith Boyd (Henry) Terjen, Lynchburg, TN; four grandchildren, Samuel McDowell Kinkead, Jr., Lexington, KY, Elizabeth Apperson (Craig Brown) Boyd, Atlanta, GA, Mary Franklin Boyd, New York City, NY, and Evans Martin (Wesley) Boyd, and their son, Daniel Motlow Boyd, Portland, OR; four nieces; six great nieces and five great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Boyd Kinkead and son-in-law, Samuel M. Kinkead: daughter, Patricia Boyd Martin and her four brothers, Reagor Motlow, Robert T. Motlow, Dan Evans Motlow and Cliff Conner Motlow.
Graveside Services were held Friday, August 25, in the Lexington Cemetery, conducted by The Very Rev. Carol Wade. Memorials to Motlow State Community College, P.O. Box 8500, Lynchburg, TN 37352 or The Moore County Public Library, P.O. Box 602, Lynchburg, TN 37352.
