Eugene was born July 13, 1949, in Meadville, Pa., the son of Floyd E. and Marie (Sally) Abbott Throop.
He associated himself with the county's Historical Society and assisted in gathering first-hand genealogical data and records research which provided him with material for two books regarding the interred residents of the Erie and Crawford County cemeteries.
Later he participated in the discovery of Petroleum Center, a "lost" town of the 1850's oil boom.
After moving to the York area, Eugene met and married Deborah Sadler of New Oxford on May 2, 1992.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Jean (nee Ogren) Throop.
