Mildred A. Barker, 93 years of age, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Sherman. Visitation will be form 10-11a.m. on Tuesday at Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Sherman. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Brian Taylor. Entombment will follow at Chapel on The Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Sherman.
Mildred was born July 17, 1924 in Windom, Texas to the late William Madison Butler and Ila Fay (Roden) Butler. She was married to the late Eugene “Roy” Barker on January 23, 1943 in Windom, TX.
She was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Sherman, and a member of the “Ball Club” at the church. She retired from TI after 16 years of service. Mildred enjoyed hosting events for family and friends and sharing her love by cooking and serving others. She always looked forward to her family’s annual reunion which has been a tradition for the past 60 years. She had many fond memories of camping and traveling the U.S. with her family. She was known as a loving wife, Mom, Granny and Great- Granny.
Mildred is survived by her son, Ron Barker and wife Dottie; daughter, Sharon Conaway and husband Jack; son, Rick Barker and wife Margaret; grandchildren, Richard Barker, Carrie McMillan, Melody Griffin, Robby Robertson, Kayla Cranford, Katie Earnest, Reid Barker; six great grandchildren; one brother, W.M. Butler Jr. and wife Mary Helen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Howard Butler.
