Mrs. Mary Avery Dies Wednesday

Mrs. Mary E. Avery, 75, widow of the late John W. Avery and a resident of Curtisville, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lucille Gunning in East Gary, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock following a stroke. Mrs. Avery was born on March 28, 1868. She was married to John W. Avery, who preceded her in death. They were the parents of seven children, six of whom are still living. Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Gunning at whose home she died. Maury Avery of Curtisville, Myra Hauger of Gary, Ray Avery of Albian; Wayne Avery of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Byron Avery of East Gary. The body will arrive in Elwood on the 1 o'clock train Friday morning and will be taken to the York Memorial Home and later to be removed to the home of a son, Maury Avery, in Curtisville. Funeral rites will be conducted from the South Christian Church in Curtisville, Saturday at 1 o'clock, and burial will follow in the Curtisville cemetery.
