C.J. was in the Sixth Armored Division, better known as
General Patton's Army or "Super Sixth" activated on February
15, 1942 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. It moved to Camp Chaffee
on March 15, 1942.
When he was in training at Camp Chaffee September 1942,
the photo in his khakis was taken at Barnett Camera Shop, 705
Garrison, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Photo #32118.
The Normandy Beachhead Offensive was launched D-Day
June 6, 1944.
C.J. was there when the Sixth Armored Division landed
on Utah Beach in Normandy, France on July 19, 1944 as a
follow- up unit. He fought in five major European Campaigns of WWll.
He was a member of a thirteen man crew operating a half-track
antitank unit when he was wounded and knocked from the half-track.
