John F. Cornelius, 89, who leaves survivors in four generations, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marion H. Baker, 909 Maple Avenue, Hollidaysburg, Friday afternoon, July 15, 1955, at 2 o'clock.
A retired farmer native of Saltillo and a former employee of the Mason Hospital, Roaring Spring, he had been in failing health for some time.
Born January 11, 1866, at Saltillo, Huntingdon County, he was a son of Walter and Amanda (Kough) Cornelius. He was twice married, his first wife was Bertha Parks and his second wife, Mrs. Rachel Myers. Both are deceased.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marion H. Baker, Hollidaysburg; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Winter, Six Mile Run, and Mrs. Sarah Chamberlain, Saltillo; one brother, Ross Cornelius. Also surviving are four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of the Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren. He retired from farming 20 years ago and spent the next 25 years in the employ of the Nason Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the H.R. Miller Funeral Home, Martinsburg, in charge of his pastor, the Rev. Carl Myers. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg,
