Mrs. Nadine Simmons Selman was a woman who lived a life through service and love. She was one of thirteen children born to Mr. Willie Simmons and Mrs. Estella Bell Simmons; six preceded her in death (Maudie Ree, Willie, Nathaniel, Edith, Dorothy, and Rufus). Nadine also displayed her passion of caring for others by serving as one of the top beauticians in the area, attending to the patients at the Monroe Intermediate Care Home, and everywhere else she seen to the needs of people. Nadine was also a humble servant of God, who worked tirelessly at Spring Hill A.M.E. Zion Church on the Stewardess Board and Usher Board. Nadine also had beautiful voice, that she shared with many through her solos. Not only that, she was the loving wife of the late Sylvester Selman, affectionate mother to Clementine S. Barnes (Jonas) and Cynthia S. Boyce (Rick), caring grandmother to Rico Selman and Dena Boyce, and a proud sister of Rufus Simmons, Mable Simmons Allen Gordon, Ethel Simmons Kilgore, Alice Simmons Morrow (Memory, Jr.), Betty Simmons Skrine (Lucius), Estella Simmons Bell (Johnny), and Margie Simmons Wimberly. Even today, Nadine is still remembered in the hearts of many whom will always cherish her. Your eyes are magnificent like doves on summer’s day. Your eyes of almond matrix bring life to spring like green. Your voice of golden fortune brings singing to my ears. Your smile of sultry passion brings pounding to my breast. When I am next to you my life becomes of heaven, and worries seize to exist. Continue to rest in his presence, Nadine.
