Rev. John David Belcher, Sr went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.

John David is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Jean Rowland Belcher.

He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Bearden.

He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law;
his sister;
his daughter and son-in-law;
his 3 sons and daughter-in-laws.
He is also survived by grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law.
He is also survived by two great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and one great-great-granddaughter.

John David was born January 13, 1928 in Morven, Georgia to Maynor Hansel Belcher Senior and Fannie Mae Asbell Belcher.

After graduating from Morven High School, he enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1946 to 1953.

Afterward he graduated from Jones Business College in Jacksonville, Florida and worked in Information Technology in various roles from 1953 until 1998.

In 1972 he surrendered to a call to the ministry, attending Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida and attaining his Bachelor of Arts in Theology degree, and pastoring First Baptist Church of Greenwood, Florida; Morrison Baptist Church in Barney, Georgia, and Morven Baptist Church, Morven, Georgia.

Since 2001, John David and Betty Jean have enjoyed their retirement and the fellowship of family, extended family, and friends in Quitman, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at Morven Baptist Church, Morven, GA at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 with Rev. Bill Blanchard, Rev. Jim Pitts, and Rev. Bob Willis officiating.

Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery in Morven.

The family will be receiving friends at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home in Quitman, Georgia from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017.
