She was born December 16, 1903, in the town of Poy Sippi to Henry and Anna Schonscheck Schmude. On Jan. 27, 1922, she married Arthur Achterberg in Borth and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1983.
Mrs. Achterberg was educated in the town of Poy Sippi. She had been a housewife and had lived in the Pickett area since 1930. She was a member of the Immanual United Methodist Church of Ripon.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Stahmann of Rosendale and Mrs. Victor (Eunice) Haase of Oshkosh; one son, Lyle (Elaine) Achterberg of Berlin; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lewis (Lilah) Lehmann of Berlin, Mrs. Louise Belter of Pickett, Mrs. Anton (LaVerne) Olsen of Poy Sippi and Mrs. Erwin (Lola) Krueger of Omro. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon. The Rev. Robert LeCount will officiate. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon.
