DEATH OF MRS. S. P. GAUMER

Mrs. Amanda S. Gaumer, wife of Simon P. Gaumer, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James R. Murvin, at Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday, Jan. 18, at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 25 days, after an illness of six years. The end came very suddenly, following a paralytic stroke. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, S. P. Gaumer, two daughters, Mrs. James R. Murvin and Mrs. H. J. Thompson and one grandson, Merle Thompson of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Harden and Mrs. Flora Lockhart of Victor, Iowa, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Gaumer, whose maiden name was Amanda S. Manatt, was born on farm three miles southwest of Victor (known as the Lepley farm), where she spent her girlhood.

In the year of 1876 she became the wife of Simon P. Gaumer and to this union were born three children, Mrs. James R. Murvin and Mrs. H. J. Thompson of Des Moines, and one son, who preceded her in death.

The body will be brought to Victor Friday and the funeral services will be held at the M.E. church on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m., Rev. C. E. Coggeshall officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
