Dale Glidewell

CHARLESTON — Johnnie Dale Glidewell, 79, of Charleston died at 4:16 a.m. Monday (Aug. 20, 1990) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, Charleston, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Glidewell was born March 16, 1911, in Jasper County, the son of Elmer and Mary Sweeney Glidewell. He married Ethel DeVal in 1931; she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald Dale Glidewell of Coles Station and Robert Glidewell of Georgetown; two daughters, Shirley Anne Swanson and Loretta Jean Moore, both of Charleston; two sisters, Phyllis Reagen of Hazel Dell and Florence Roan of Greenup; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and one granddaughter.

Mr. Glidewell was a farmer and was retired from Decker's Hog Market.
