Bobbitt was born in Madisonville, Kentucky and lived there until moving to Evansville, Indiana in 1943 with his wife Lottie Mae (Lantrip) King. In 1962 the whole family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he remained until his death in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, a daughter, Sue Carolyn (King) Kaiser, a son, James B. King and wife Dianne and a sister Awanda Williams and husband Vernon.
