John H. Broers passed away at 11 o'clock p.m. Sunday at the home of his son Ernest Broers in Cazenovia of an illness of five weeks, his death being due to paralysis.

John Broers was born April 21, 1873 in Greene township, the son of John and Cassie Broers and died at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 27 days.

In his early life he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He spent his early manhood in the vicinity of Benson.

On Dec. 4, 1893 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Tjaden in St Peter's church near Benson. To this union eight children were born. His wife, three children, six sisters, one brother, and his parents preceded him in death. After the death of his wife he made his home with his daughter, Marie Obert, until he became ill.

Those left to mourn his loss are three sons, Charles, Ernest, and Bernard of Cazenovia, Mrs Marie Obert of Cazenovia and Mrs Velma Fredericks of Peoria; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was a loving, devoted companion and a kind and loving father, and was respected by all who knew him.

Thus another family circle is broken. A loving husband and kind father has been called home. No one can take his place in the home, but as his loved ones mourn his loss they also feel glad in the fact that their loss has been his gain, for he sleeps in Jesus.

His funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21st at 1 o'clock at his son's, Ernie Broers' residence and at 2 o'clock at the St Paul Lutheran church in Benson. Rev. Braunschweig was in charge, Interment was in Benson cemetery.
