Mt. Savage, June 11 -- Thomas Benton Cessna, 78, died early this morning at his home near here, following a protracted illness. Mr. Cessna, a native of Centreville, Pa., came here in 1904 and had operated a meat market in Mt. Savage for 35 years. He was known to his friends as "Captain" through his activities in the Patriarchs Militant of the I.O.O.F.
Mr. Cessna is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma (Hite) Cessna; a daughter, Helen E. Cessna, at home; two sons, W. Wayne Cessna, Cumberland, and J. Carl Cessna, Mt. Savage; a brother Charles, Uniontown, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Addison Erhard, Uniontown, and four grandchildren.
He was a member of Chosen Friends Lodge, No. 34, I. O. O. F.; Cumberland Encampment, No. 23, and Colfax Rebekah Lodge, No. 1, a past commandant of the Patriarchs Militant and a past grand patriarch of Maryland.
