Son of James Keith & Mary Buford Duke. He was a medical doctor, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
He married first to Charlotte Payne in 1853 and second to Amy Armstrong in about 1865. He moved to Orlando Florida in 1873 and died there two years later. An account of his death can be found in A Pine Castle Anthology: The Collected Writings of Will Wallace Harney, available online.
