Well known Smith County antique dealer and collector Ruth McDonald McKinney Horsley died October 20, 1995, at the age of 81 following a lengthy illness. Born in the Hogans Creek comunity, she was the daughter of Butram and Beulah Lee Timberlake McDonald. Her first husband Bill McKinney died in 1956. She later married Phillip Horsley of Hartsville, who preceded her in death in 1994. She was a long time member of the Hogans Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She began her 37 year career as a phone operator for the old Home Telephone Company and later worked for Bell Telephone Company and retired from South Central Bell in 1977. She was survived by two sisters and two brothers.
