Son of David Beatty and Elizabeth or Mary Campbell.


Married Mary Washabaugh on August 27, 1868 in Tyrone Township, PA and until her death in 1910. Married Emma Murry Williams on April 16, 1911 in Hickory Square, PA.


Obituary published in The Weekly Courier of Connellsville, Thursday, June 21, 1923:

Funeral services for J.C. Beatty, 78 years old, who died last Friday night at the home of his son, J.T. Beatty, at Vanderbilt, were held Sunday afternoon at the Beatty home. Rev. D. E. Minerd of Greenwood, assisted by Rev. C. H. Beall of Vanderbilt, officiated. The interment was made in Dickerson Run Union Cemetery. Mr. Beatty had resided at Vanderbilt for a number of years. He was twice married. His first wife, who was Mary Washabaugh, died 12 years ago. Later he was married to Mrs. Emma Williams, who survives. Besides his wife and son he is survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Among the out of town persons attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Williams, of New Kensington, Mr. and Mrs. John Walker and Matthew Walker of Scottsdale, Mrs. Burd Condiff and Mrs. James Reynolds of South Connellsville, and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Beatty of Smithfield.
