Kenneth C. Werner Sr., 74, of 12812 Darrow Avenue, Cresaptown, was dead on arrival Monday, Dec. 19, 1988, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Aug. 11, 1914, in Somerset, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Gertrude Regina (Baer) Werner. He was preceded in death by one son and one daughter. Mr. Werner was a retired employee of the Fairmont Food Company as a salesman and shipping clerk, an Army veteran of World War II, an original member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and member of Knights of Columbus Pope John XXIII Council 5450 and United Commercial Travelers Association. Surviving are his widow, Frances Elizabeth (Thoerig) Werner; two sons, Kenneth C. Werner Jr., Cresaptown; and Rodney W. Werner, Millerdale,W.Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Judy A. Elliott and Mrs. Mary F. Sarver, both of Cumberland; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Norris, Mount Savage; and Mrs. Helen Fabbri, Brazil, Ind.; and eight grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, Wednesday. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Members of the Knights of Columbus will be present. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church by the Rev. DeSales Young. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank T. DelSignore, William Hartman, Bernard K. McKenzie, Elmer J. Habersack, Thomas L. Pratt and Edward E. Nolan.
