Meyersdale Republican, February 14, 1974: Herbert A. Werner, 64, of Mt. Savage, Md., died Feb. 6, 1974, at his residence, after having been in failing health for the past six months. Born in Pocahontas, he was a son of the late William and Gertrude (Baer) Werner. He was a retired employee of the Mt. Savage Refractory Company, was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, its Holy Name Society and was a member of Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving are his wife, the former Sarah A. Pratt; five daughters, Mrs. Lois Stein, Rockville, Md.; Mrs. Marleen Martirano, Frostburg; Mrs. Yvonne Witt, Corriganville; Mrs. Rene Baker, Allandale, Va.; and Miss Vickie Werner, at home; a son, SSG Herbert J. Werner in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Norris, Mt. Savage, Md.; and Mrs. Helen Fabbri, Brazil, Ind.; and a brother, Kenneth Werner, Cresaptown, Md. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday morning in St. Patrick's Church in Mt. Savage. Burial in the parish cemetery.
