Reference: Obituary - CANDIDO, Albert - (May 9, 1944 – March 6, 2005) – “A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away. Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark; until the oak was tired and stark.” Surrounded by his loving family at the Plummer Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 6, 2005 in his 61st year. Loving husband to Marcia for 37 years. Devoted father and best friend to Shari (Dave) and Joe (Melissa). Most proud “Bop” to Emma. Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe (1997) and Carmella (2004). Survived by his siblings Reno (Pamm), Mary Barban (Frank) and Nancy Cady (Jim); his nieces and nephews Lisa Wadden (Stan), Michael, Gregory, Ryan (Melissa) and Sarah. Son-in-law of Nora Booth and the late Edward (2002). Predeceased by his sister-in-law Sharon (1982) and survived by his brother-in-law Gene Moore of Downers Grove, Illinois and his nephew Will Moore and family of Chicago, Illinois. Albert’s sense of humour and zest for life will be missed by many friends and family. Albert was a loyal friend who could be counted on for anything and never expected anything in return. He wanted all his friends to know the following, “I love you all with all my heart.” A very special heartfelt thank you to two of Albert’s best friends, Gerry Burk and Robert Zuccato, who walked each step with Albert during the past three months; your friendship meant the world to your dear friend. Albert’s spirit will be forever present in the bush and on the shooting range, on the waters of the St. Mary’s River and amidst the lives of those he loved. Albert lived his life to the fullest right up until he got sick and fought valiantly to beat the odds. He fought this cruel disease to the very end with the support of Doctors Spadafora, Walde, Lohar, Reich and Beck. To the courageous caregivers on the 4th floor, there are too many of you to mention, thank you for the decency, kindness and compassion you showed Albert. You were so respectful to his needs and the needs of his family. May you feel his strength around you as you care for others. Thank you to the radiology department at the General Hospital and especially Joe D’Angelo, Albert’s good friend, who stood by him and offered not only his friendship and support but his expertise in his field. Albert would want you all to know that he wishes only good health and happiness to you and your loved ones. Albert’s wife and children would like to remind everyone who has been affected by this disease that – “Cancer is so limited…it cannot cripple Love; it cannot shatter Hope; it cannot corrode Faith; it cannot destroy Peace; it cannot kill Friendship; it cannot suppress Memories; it cannot silence Courage; it cannot invade the Soul; it cannot steal Eternal Life; it cannot conquer the Spirit.” Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 from 6-9 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Veronica’s Church on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 11 am. Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Interment Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Memorial contributions to the SAH Oncology Unit or Cancer Clinic would be appreciated by Albert’s family.
