Cannelton, Indiana - Violet M. Reed, 84, of Cannelton passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.

Violet was born in Tobinsport, Indiana on July 5, 1922, daughter of the late Alvin Bland and Rushia Kellems Bland. Violet was also preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Reed in 1994, one sister, Dorothy Young, four brothers, Alvin Bland, Jr., Ivan and Homer Bland and Albert Bland in infancy.

Violet had been employed at General Electric in Tell City and later Hydro Tex in Cannelton. She was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Harry G. Myers American Legion Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Cannelton.

Violet is survived by one daughter, Sondra Van Conia and her husband, Ronnie of Tell City, one grandson, Darren Van Conia of Evanston, Indiana, one sister, Shirley Curl, Tell City, Indiana and one brother, David Bland, Tobinsport, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Huber Funeral Home, 129 N. 6th Street, Cannelton, Indiana with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Pastor William Van Nunen will officiate. Visitation is from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Friday and from 9:00 until 11:00 AM Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seventh Street Baptist Church.
