Alan Siniff, 58, of Marion, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017, following a sudden illness.

Per Alan’s request, no services will be held. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.

Alan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Erin of Marion; son, Peter (Jacey) Siniff and their son, Parker of Marion; and siblings, Joyce (John) Siniff Hawkins of Spokane, Washington, Darcy (Dirk) Zenger of Farmington, Utah, Timothy Siniff of Sandy, Utah, Kevin (Karen) Adkinson of Boise, Idaho, Laura (Roger) Shirley of Vancouver, Washington, Lynette (Robert) Stroh of Newman Lake, Washington, and Daniel (Julyanne) Atkinson of Sandy, Utah; step-mother, Jennet Wagstaff Siniff of Spokane, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Alan was born July 7, 1959, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Ed and Kay (Peterson) Siniff. He was an honor student who earned full ride scholarships to pursue his education. Alan received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from BYU in 1983. He then received his Master of Business Administration at the University of Iowa in 1999.

On October 17, 1987, Alan was united in marriage to Erin Knodle in Bellevue, Washington.

He was an engineer at Rockwell Collins for many years.

Alan was an Eagle Scout and a longtime leader and volunteer for the Boys Scouts of America. He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, brother, father-in-law, and friend. Alan was goofy, intelligent, and talented. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Alan was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alan’s memory with the Hawkeye Area Council BSA for the Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation Youth Programs.
