Chester was the husband of my cousin Ruth Roemaine Scott.

Obituary

Chester E. "Chet" McCabe, age 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died at home on Monday of natural causes. Mr. McCabe was born July 30, 1918, in Alta Vista, KS.

He worked for Clark Oil Company for 17 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Iowa City for 44 years and was a past trustee of the church. He was also known for developing and marketing a mud-jack leveler.

On May 19, 1939, in Stockton, CA, he married Roemaine Scott, who survives of the home.

He is also survived by three sons, Kevin McCabe of Atlanta, GA, Lloyd McCabe of Barneveld, WI, and Rob McCabe of St. Louis. MO; a brother, two sisters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Teahen Funeral Home, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the Rev. Jay Jentnick officiated. Graveside services were held at the Alta Vista Cemetery in Alta Vista, KS. Graveside arrangements conducted by R. J. Evans-Gentry Funeral home in Alma.
