Lynell was born to the union of Johnnie and Maggie Batties of Idabel, Oklahoma. He attended Richland Elementary and graduated from Grey High School in 1971. He later moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked many years for Chrysler Corporation. After the death of his father, he moved back to stay with his mother. He accepted the Lord at an early age at Maple Spring Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by Rev. Joe and Roaner Jackson, his father and mother, Johnnie and Maggie Batties and his brother Johnnie Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory of two sons, Duane Batties and Lynell Charles Jr., both of Detroit, Michigan, one granddaughter, Shynell Batties of Detroit, Michigan, four sisters, Roana Haney Favor of Idabel, Oklahoma, Mamie Milligan of Oklahoma City, Gloriece and Don Biglow of Oklahoma City and Coryatta and Tommy Nelson of Idabel, Oklahoma, two brothers, Sammie and Genevia of Cherry Valley, California and Rev. Lonnie Batties of Detroit, Michigan, special appreciation Kacey Beard, Cicon Jackson and Tommy Nelson Sr. along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lynell’s hobbies included fishing, singing, bar-b-queuing, playing Dominoes, gardening when his health permitted and spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Norwood-Nation Chapel in Idabel, Oklahoma with Rev. Jimmie William officiating. Services under the direction of Clardy Funeral Service, Idabel, Oklahoma.
