Johnnie Batties, 71, of Idabel, died Wednesday, August 11, 1993.
He was born March 30, 1922, in Idabel, to John L. and Silva B. Batties. He lived his entire life in Idabel.
He was a veteran of World War II. He served as an Idabel policeman, and a public school bus driver. He was a long-time member of Maple Spring Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie Batties of the home; four daughters, Roana Haney and Mamie Milligan, both of Idabel, Gloriece Biglow of Oklahoma City and Coyartta Nelson of Hugo; four sons, Johnnie Batties Jr. of Idabel, Sammie Batties of Railto, Calif., Lonnie Batties of Southfield, Mich. and Lynell Batties of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Enora Runner of California; one brother, Ed Batties of California; 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a stepmother, Henretta Batties of California; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Westside in Idabel with Rev. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Spring Cemetery under direction of Baker Funeral Home of Idabel.
