Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm EST, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Vance Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Mrs. Hatcher was born on July 24, 1928 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Isaac W. Cyree and Ethel Lavonia Hill Cyree.
She retired after many years of service from Martin Army Hospital, where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Hatcher was also a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. She enjoyed Happy Hearts and going to the Senior Center. She was a gardener and raised chickens, which brought her great joy, only surpassed by the joy of her family and friends.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Evon Hatcher; children, Mary Gail Hatcher, Leila Cyree Hatcher Gregory, Debra Jean Hatcher Slagle and Prima Donna Hatcher Grimes; one sister, Edith Juanita Osborne; three brothers, Luther Earl Cyree, Jack Edwin Cyree and Horace Leon Cyree; and one grandson, John Jeffery “JJ” Gregory, III.
She is survived by her son, Allen Wayne Hatcher of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Joyce Yvonne Holt of Lynchburg, TN; three brothers, Irie Monroe Cyree of Smiths Station, AL, Elmer Gene Cyree of Graceville, FL and Isaac Lewis Cyree of Lynchburg, TN; grandchildren, Rhonda Michelle “Missy” Thaxton Dockins (Allen), Mark Evon Grimes (Liz), Ronald Glenn Thaxton (Jennifer), Diana Gail “DD” Gregory Childs (Shane) and Christopher Bryant Grimes; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a loving friend Mrs. Margaret and many other extended family and friends.
