Benjamin Thompson, son of Captain Ebenezer and Hannah (Converse) Thompson, born November 27, 1729, and descended from the family ancestor, James Thompson. Married Ruth, daughter of Lieut. James and Mary (Fowle) Simonds. Intention of marriage dated May 30, 1752. Was father of Sir Benjamin Thompson, Count Rumford (born Woburn, March 26, 1753.) Ruth (Simonds) Thompson, the mother of Rumford, married a second husband, Josiah Peirce, Jr. She died in Flintstown, Maine after 1811.
