Karen Elaine Hurford, 69, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at her home.

Funeral service with Charles Kuhn officiating will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11AM in the Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow in Woodson Cemetery.

Karen Elaine Vance was born on August 19, 1947 in Graham to Harry Eugene Vance and Juanita Woodall Vance.

Karen married Wayne Hurford on August 7, 1965 in Loving, Texas.

She was a Registered Nurse with a career spanning 43 years. She began nursing for Stephens Memorial Hospital where she especially enjoyed working in the labor and delivery department. She had a love for seeing new life come in to the world through the miracle of birth, and she also worked diligently caring for other patients as well. After 33 years of employment at Stephens Memorial she was employed at Villa Haven Nursing Home for 10 years.

Karen was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Hurford of Breckenridge; daughter, Christy Gail Hurford-Vanderhoff and husband, John of Little Elm; son, Steven Roosevelt Hurford of Odessa; brother Gene Vance of Boerne; grandchildren, Lauren Elaine Vanderhoff, Colton Hurford Vanderhoff, Tatum Elizabeth Hurford, and Tanner Joel Hurford.
