The stone for Nelson Bundy was relocated here from it's previous resting place in an old cemetery in the Southeast quarter of section 20. That cemetery, located on what was then the Neal Walker Farm, was being lost through neglect and deterioration. Mrs Neal was feeling sorry for this soldier, moved his stone to North Walker and would put flowers by him each Memorial Day. Nelson Bundy is listed in 1879, Des Moines county History, Page 455 as being in the 25th infantry, Co. G. He enlisted July 29, 1862 and was wounded at lovejoy's Station, Georgia. His regiment was mustered out of service at Washington D.C. on June 6, 1865.
