Homestead Woman Dies At Home Of Daughter After Brief Illness

Funeral services for Mrs Susie Jane Reeves, 73, who died after a short illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs C W McEwen of Homestead, will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday in the chapel of Turner funeral home, with the Rev J J Richards, pastor of Homestead Methodist church, officiating.

Pallbearers at the burial in Palm cemetery, Naranja, will be W T McConnell, William McConnell, J G Wynn, Ansell Barrow, Aubrey Cheshire and H G Thurman.

Mrs Reeves was born near Carrolton, Ga, and came to Homestead with her daughter in 1921. Besides Mrs McEwen she is survived by two brothers; W H Mobley of Goulds and O A Mobley, Graham, Ala; four sisters, Mrs Sam Harris and Mrs Lewis Johnson of Carrolton. Mrs Charles Stevens, Heflin, Ala, and Mrs H Ashmore of Mount Zion, Ga.

Her only child was Zola Reeves who was married to Claud Webster McEwen. Zola & Claud divorced in 1944. Zola was born on 16 Oct 1894 in the Turkey Creek community of Carroll Co GA and died in Nov 1971 in Alexander, Pulaski Co, Arkansas. Zola and Claud had one child, Florence Bernice who married Louis Frick Muench on 28 Jul 1935 in Lexington, MO. Florence was born on 8 Mar 1913 and died on 3 Jul 1995, Alexander, Pulaski Co, Arkansas.
